Retail Sales Associate - Forest Tek, FL

The first and main responsibility of a Hardware Sales Associate includes working closely with customers to determine their needs, answer their questions about our products and recommend the right solutions. You should also be able to promptly resolve customer complaints and ensure maximum client satisfaction. To be successful as a Hardware Sales Associate, you should stay up-to-date with product features and maintain our store’s visual appearance in high standards.



Ultimately, the duties of a sales associate are to achieve excellent customer service, while consistently meeting the store’s sales goals. This position reports to Store Manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service with expert product knowledge of products
• Assess customer's hardware needs and appropriately suggested correct items needed for customer satisfaction
• Assist customers/contractors’ special orders, providing information and resolving any issues
• Maintain stock on sales floor, receiving and updating stockroom inventory
• Build products, displays, create keys at key cutting station, mix customer required paint orders
• Operate cash registers as needed
• Handle customer complaints, concerns, merchandise returns, etc.
• Monitor loss prevention due to merchandise damage and/or theft
• Work well with peers and assist as needed
• Perform all store opening and closing functions assigned
• Ensure assigned zone is maintained in accordance with policy
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms
• Wear radio at all times
• Other assignments as needed
Physical: Position requires bending, standing, and walking the entire workday. Must have the ability to lift 20 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally. Team lift for anything over 40 lbs.

Experience

• Retail hardware experience or will consider equivalent plumbing or electrical experience
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Basic Math skills
• Basic Keyboard skills
• Availability to work flexible shifts
• Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills
• A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
• Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner
• Ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently and up to 40 lbs. with assistance.
